DEFINITION
Digital image processing refers on doing some operations in the image. First of all, the image is a
combination of pixels and intensity values which represents the entire image. The pixel value is
determined based on the color, brightness, darkness of the image between the range of 0 to 255.
The image representation is like matrix form of rows and column as well as it has 2Dimensional
or 3Dimensional of color space.
INTRODUCTION
The fundamental step of image processing is ‘Image Acquisition’. Image acquisition is just
capturing the scenery by using any electronic device like mobile, laptop, digital camera, tab,
gadget etc,. These are the smart devices help to develop the image quality by accessing and
manipulating the image with latest technologies. The image might have three types, they are
Binary image, Grayscale image and Color/RGB image.
(i) Binary image - It is in the range of 0 or 1. pixel 0 for black and 1 for white.
(ii) Grayscale image - It might in the range between 0 to 255. The gray color space will be high.
(iii) Color image - This may have three color channels with the combination of Red, Green and
Blue.
For example,
Here, given sample image of color space.
Original Image Pixel Range
The above figure shows the pixel value of the original image of Pap smear picture. Here, the
pixel range between 0 to 255 has been denoted based on the color space of the picture in 2D.
